Walking into the coffee shop: My POV

Walking into the coffee shop: My POV - student project

I walk into my favourite coffee shop, my mind already reciting my usual order. As i walk up to the counter, in the corner of my eye i notice someone rather unpleasant, someone i had left in the past. R, the one and only, sitting to my left, munching on a bagel like it’s the last one in the city. My mind races with old memories, like a volcano eruption. I swat them away with my imaginary hand and order my caramel milkshake. As i wait, I throw some unsuspecting glances at R. We made eye contact twice, for 3 seconds (of course I counted). I decide not to look any more, as to not plague my mind further with the image of his face. After a few minutes i finally get my order. Unfortunately, i had to walk right beside him to get to the free seat I had eyed the moment i walked in. And walk past him i did, head held high, completely ignoring him as if he had become one with the chair he was sitting on. I set my things down, two tables behind his. I enjoy that milkshake as i bury him and his memories back into the abyss of my mind.
