My results from the urban sketching textures course by Toby Haseler. The central message of this course is "less is more" when painting textures in urban sketching, and it was very helpful for me. I'm not sure what happened to my gravel texture (swing and miss!) and I think painting bodies of water can take years to master, but I feel like my other textures were mostly successful. I love Toby's loose and expressive style, and the approach of breaking down a scene to bite-size textures and just practicing those before tackling a larger painting makes the process much less daunting.
