Tulips Plein Air

Let me be the one to start.
Here’s the story of one of my recent plein air experiences.
We spent a weekend visiting friends who live by the coast, so I had a whole day to be outdoors. Spring in England is absolutely magical—flowers blooming everywhere.
The weather was very changeable—sunshine, then clouds, and at times strong gusts of wind. I was completely mesmerised by a hillside covered in red tulips (they looked so much like poppies!) and the way they danced and bowed in the wind.
I took a few photos and short videos—at that moment, it wasn’t convenient to stop and paint, as we were walking with a group. But later, when it was just me and my son, I found a quieter, sheltered spot and sat down to sketch the tulips.
My son is 8 now, and he's usually happy to play nearby while I paint. Sometimes he comes over to chat or even joins me —those moments are my favourite.
I look back on that day with so much warmth.
I can’t wait to see your sketches and stories!
Warm hugs,
Olya
