Trailing Peonies and a Cyclamen Pattern - image 1 - student projectMy first attempt was the Cyclamen, which did not actually "trail" very well, but I continued with it just to learn the technique. I made another pattern with peonies that worked better and played with some colorways. I like how the layers build it and how the class breaks down a digitally made design in a way that more closely replicates the multi-block printing technique. This was a nice way to use local color inspiration as well as colors I tend to decorate with. Trailing Peonies and a Cyclamen Pattern - image 3 - student projectI went back again with more attention to the weight of my lines and was able to do a few colorways with my new chrysanthemum print below.

I still am having trouble lining up the edged in illustrator for the repeats, though. Maybe this was too ambitious for an illustrator novice?
