My project started because I need some art for my office. During my ideation phase I realized that I was far more likely to finish the project if I stuck to skills I was confident in, so I chose to do a drawing project. The goal was to do three drawings of animals with a few constraints:

1. I needed one land, one air, and one water animal

2. Each drawing had to push my technique a little further than usual

In drawing the chameleon I chose to explore a mix of pen-and-ink with pencil, since I've never mixed those media before. In drawing the kingfisher I wanted to push my realism as much as I could with colored pencil. Finally, the starfish was an exercise in large-scale stippling.

I'm quite happy with the results. Although the starfish took the longest its probably the one I'm least happy with. I did end up putting a branch under the kingfisher so he isn't just floating in space :)
