Thanks, Isaac.  The countdown is in Logic -- that's where I found it.  Don't know anything about the Neptunes.  So just a coincidence.

I tried the 808 stuff you demonstrated, but I couldn't get it to sit right -- it just never seemed to belong.

Then too, I always struggle with the low end -- the parts come easily enough, but the sounds and the mix frequently elude me....
