The day I was born

I had to die the day I was born due to someone's mistake and It is a miracle that I am still alive today. Yes, you read that right. The reason that I am alive is because of my uncle.

I was born to me in a clinic based in a small town Kanakapura in Karnataka, India. I was born exactly at 5:55pm, on 30 March, 2000. I was a healthy baby when I was born. But as the day passed by, my mom noticed that the baby's body turned blue. My mom told my grandma about this.  Soon my grandparents rushed to the doctor's cabin with the baby in their hands. The doctor checked the baby and noticed that the baby's heart rate was going down. The doctor immediately suggested that the baby had to be kept in the incubator and since they don't have the facility asked them to take me to Bangalore which is 52 kms away from the town.

The baby's health was deteriorating. The chances of the baby making it alive to Bangalore was very less. In fact, my grandpa thought that it would be waste of money and energy* if the baby might take her last breath midway and might have to throw it's body away. But my Uncle was determined to try all possible ways to save the baby's life. So he convinced my grandpa and booked a cab and took grandma, grandpa and my uncle took me to Bangalore and requested the driver to make it faster to Bangalore.

It usually takes 2 hours from Kanakapura to Bangalore but that day they reached K R Hospital, Bangalore, within an hour. As soon as they stepped out of the car the nurse grabbed me gently and ran into ICU and started the treatment. I was in the incubator for 5 days. If it was not for my uncle's "never gonna give up" attitude, I wouldn't have made it this far.

Every happened because of the doctor who was checking up on my mom during her pregnancy. She was practicing her surgery skills and she was experimenting on her patients. I still had to be in my mom's womb for a week, but for her advantage, she decided to cut the umbilical cord before the due date.

This shows there are two kinds of people in the world. Few will risk their everything to save a life and few will risk anything even when it comes to a life for their personal gain.

* - My grandpa thought like that only based on the baby's condition. In fact, I am in a position where I am earning handful of money is only because of grandpa. It's been 3 and a half month since he left us. So please don't hate my grandpa.
