The Wave poster - Swiss Design

The Wave poster - Swiss Design - image 1 - student project

  • Absolute Minimalism: Swiss Design is famous for the principle of "form follows function," stripping away unnecessary ornamentation. This poster features absolutely no superfluous elements—no extraneous textures, borders, or objective photography.

  • Typography as the Hero: The International Typographic Style pioneered the idea that typography itself could be the primary visual element. In this poster, the type doesn't just deliver the message; it is the entire composition.

  • High Contrast and Flat Color: The stark, unshaded white elements against a bold, flat blue background create a high-contrast visual clarity that is a hallmark of mid-century Swiss posters.

  • Geometric Foundation: Even though the lines curve at the bottom, the top half of the design relies on strict, rigid, vertical geometry.
