Do you have much knowledge of music theory, eg scales and chords? There are lots of courses here to get you started, but I also highly recommend Andrew Huang’s video that tackles music theory basics in about 30 minutes. He and Red Means Recording’s instructional vids are great.

I do think iPad would work. If you want to get away from computing devices entirely, you could look into purpose-built hardware such as the various Akai MPC models. They’ve just released one this week that is smaller, more portable and less expensive than anything else they offer. Off the top of my head, I don’t know what is available for mastering on the iPad beyond the tools that come with logic pro. There are surely some audio unit plug-ins for mastering at this point.

So really, you want to learn music production. That's not a moonshot; plenty of people before you have done it - and you can too!  What learning methods work best for you: online, like Skillshare? Private instruction? Classroom?

Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to build a specific workflow on the iPad in order to liberate myself from PCs. I have lots of cool ideas made with Korg Gadget, and I think Logic Pro for iPad may be the right tool for turning them into complete compositions, with good transitions between phrases in a more linear DAW, then mix and master them in it. Do you think it makes sense? I like Skillshare. It works well for me, because it's very practical, hands-on, less academic. Cheers

Moonshot alert! I would like to learn how to connect loops into full tracks and then mix and master them in Logic Pro for iPad, for DJing purposes :D

I recorded some kitchen items, as well as my own voice. In total, I used 5 samplers for this loop and had lots of fun doing so.
