This was such a fun and inspiring class.

At first I didn't know how to tackle the task, but then decided to take inspiration from a record I'm totally into these days and make explorations using the scanner and a hand made cola pen.

Here's my lettering take on Thrice's hurricane track from their new album.

For the band name I used my hand made cola pen and did 5 variations. The idea was to get the motion on the letters from strokes and splatters.

For the final output I made some color changes and textures layering to give it more grit

Also wanted to go deeper and explore more options so I decided to make another lettering piece for Hurricane, which is my favorite track on the record. For this one the idea was to get the motion by distorting the image directly on the scanner, made lots of frames for this.

Finally made the same layering and color process and got this Gif:

This class was great and even got to post them on instagram following the video export guides.
