Succulent
That little succulent was a battle to finish, but I'm so happy I didn't give up. I did some mistakes with the washes and ended up with more layers then planned because of that... I think that trying to preserve the white border in each leaf was the most difficult part. I wanted to give volume to the plant, and I think I could do even better with more "shadow work" but I didn't want to add even more layers to it... Anyways, I have mixed feelings about this piece, but I'm definitely happy to have finished and to have worked with my mistakes.
I'll definitely paint more succulents and do my best to improve my layering.
I used my little Hahnemühle sketchbook for this, and a round brush #2. Used a reference photo from Pinterest.
Thank you Aima for another wonderful class! Not only on succulents, but on watercolor itself. Thank you for taking the time to explain a bit of teory along with the class, it was really thoughtful and helpful for begginers like me.
