So I had great fun illustrating and animating this cute dancing monster. Spiky, who likes to groove away on Tik Tok!

I used a similar workflow to Emanuel, sketching a rough drawing of a monster character first, then designed it as a vector character in Adobe Animate, exporting and converting it to an Adobe illustrator file, finally importing it as a layered file directly into After Effects, which I used to animate his movements.

I chose a pretty current song sound on Tik Tok, one that has a regular looping beat, 'Music Sounds Better With You,' which makes the character easier to animate. Spiky's pink haired monster friend was also designed as a sketch doodle, but this time I used my iPad and the powerful Affinity Designer mobile app to create him.

I also lip synched the mouth shapes in animate before, layering it in AE. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the result.
