Speaking with Confidence
Revisiting my growth in speaking with confidence has helped me refined the way I should speak to others at different levels or titles of a job. My role in my career doesn't require much socialization. Practicing, researching, and learn different ways to communicate with different minds and/or alike to one another.
There is a speaker role within my career role, where I am learning about my audience. Setting up reviews to a group and take the center stage of marking the big day.
Reflecting and preparing for the big day has shown me what strength, weaknesses, time, opportunity, and/or threats. Know that it's important to get the experience I would like to continue pursuing. I'm good at doing research and gathering information. This is what I can lean on. Weakness shows lack of certain experience or exposure of comunication. Not knowing how to communicate with people who will help me. Leaving the room in random silence before i know what to feel the rest of my sentences will be. I'm not sure what opportunities are at my finger tips at times. I focus on taking care of individuals to pursue their opportunities. The threats are more like not putting in my effort to take on challenges and helping others more then myself.
Reshapping the strengths, weaknesses, and unexpecting wins or hurdles will always be part of a struggle if the work is only put into a mimimal effort. I'm not afraid to volunteer to educate individuals to give myself a different presentation experience on the job. I'll see some progress and other times I may fall back and revisit the same lessons again. Not to repeat. To continue reshapping the process of what works for me.
There are times my weakness may get overwhelmed and what is priorities for work, life, socializing outside of the job. Identify that I may say umm, just to fill in the space of awkward silence. Not saying anything at all while I think silently thinking to myself. Improvements are on going.
Be yourself when presenting, you will be a little uncomfortable speaking to different audiences. That important thing is to try it, reshape it, and get outside your comfort zone for a while. Practice doesn't make it perfect, but it will allow you to know what to focus on. You don't read from a paper to pass on this information to your individuals. But key points to talk about. Speak from your heart and share the same information in a different way.
For now, it just getting to know my audiences to share the right information to those individuals. Each group has their own lingo in each department. It will help have a better way to describe things to others. This is the opportunity I see for myself.
