I used a texture and then gave each of the colors a different blending texture. Whatever looked good.

 

So far, I have managed 3 of the methods.

 

This photo was actually used in some Colorado online publication. I was pleasantly surprised to see it. This is the original.

 

This is a texture applied with a Difference blending mode.
