I really loved creating this atmospheric background — the soft washes give the flower such a beautiful sense of space. I need to pay more attention to the water edges - where I’m keeping them soft, where I want them to blend, and where a stronger edge will help create focus. Also the different effects I can create by splattering onto wet or dry paint — and can choose intentionally depending on the look I want. Lots of little lessons in one painting.
