Sketchbook Prompts

Hi,

Wow, I am really behind on this workshop, but here is what I have done so far:

The blob exercise is such a classic and always good fun! I actually did it twice. At first I was working in my slightly nicer sketchbook, but I was really unhappy with how scared of messing up I was and how stiff and labored everything turned out (especially after seeing other people's work on here, it looked so loose and playful and carefree... I know you're not supposed to compare, but I can't help it...) anyway, here's my first attempt:

So a few days later I gave it another go in my messy sketchbook that is really meant for my eyes only. I hoped this would enable me to let go more:

Here are my imaginary tattoos. This was fun, but I wish I had used a timer and just gone for it instead of using so many references... Yep, I'm afraid this is going to be a recurring theme... I just put a lot of pressure on myself for doing a good job (whatever that is), when I know people are going to see my drawings...

And here are my logos, surrounding the theme of coffee (I am a barista). I took ages for these as well and got kind of hung up on looking for the perfect references. So I might try this again and attempt more of a simplified kind of style?

Next up is the flying prompt. That day my head just felt empty and all I felt like drawing were some floating heads in the clouds. And yes, I know floating and flying are not the same...

The weird animal I chose was a red-lipped batfish. This guy looks really strange, pouty red mouth, some sort of a protruding nose or a horn and these appendages that are neither quite legs nor fins that he uses in order to drag himself along the ocean floor. I may have found my spirit animal...
