Series - and long-term projects - student project

I live in a log cabin and believe it would be perfect there. But what to frame? After watching the instructor's brainstorming, I decided to see if I could create a collage of pen and ink illustrations from my sketchbook. So many questions arose. They are various sizes. Would it look right to reduce some, enlarge some. Would loose ink work look "right" with more structured lines in ink work? What would unite the various items?

I'm still in process, but I decided on an aged-looking cursive handwriting sheet to unite the backgrounds. After that, I worked days on arranging various elements. I arranged them under glass, so that it would be easy to photograph, rearrange, photograph. It's funny that some things I thought looked ok - looked terrible in a photo. After days of arranging, here are the four temporary photos for the frame. I haven't submitted it to anyone for criticism as I hope the instructor will be the first. When I post to Facebook, my friends all give hearts - even on the bad work! ha ha.

Series - and long-term projects - image 3 - student projectI ordered the 4 frame set and haven't received it yet. The frames are 5x7 and the completed project will be about 40 inches long (tall) . If this project doesn't work, I can always use the frame otherwise. Made a lighter background for the 4-shot than is in the individual shots. This started me thinking about original drawings - combine items in interesting arrangements and draw the original that way. More creative than drawing single items as I have done in the past. I also had to consider which drawing in order for the frames and decided on the post. That's up for revision as well.

I didn't get feedback on this project. Just finished it the way I wanted.  FINISHED. I later tried combining unrelated objects with the light bulb/hummingbird to create art without collage.
