Sample Project for: Turn Your Life into a Living
Hi! Thank you for checking out my sample project for the new class Turn Your Life into a Living, in which you can learn how to turn your photos, videos and illustrations of your daily life into a side hustle.
Exercise 1) Find Your Topics and Style
When I look at my recent camera roll, I see maaaaaany photos of my garden, my food, my home, my cats and the people in my life. I have always enjoyed capturing the simple things that happen nearby, and I try to see something special in everything.
Doing this somehow gives me some focus and it makes me look at the world around me more openly at the same time. It gives me joy to see the beauty in the small details of daily life.

I also enjoy capturing the less than perfect moments, like these dying tomato plants

and this poor zucchini flower all destroyed by a slug.

My style can be described as quick, up close and often a tad lazy. On the other hand, I'm not lazy at all and you can spot me bending over backwards to capture different angles.

Exercise 2): Create Series, not Similars.
This is not a series, but these are similars. They look too much alike and the client will not see much value in having to look through all of these.

This is a series, with different angles and a different focus on the subject. definitely worth the client's time, as they have options!

Here's another series. By looking at the bottom of the cress plants, a new world opens up. The clipped bunch shows this is not a prop but from real life.

Exercise 3): Add an Idea or Story
Stories, ideas and concepts can be very simple and clear. I this case, it's about pet life. How our pets interfere with our work. My cat Wolf joined me in the webinar I was following. (A Getty Images webinar mind you!)

Come and join us in class, and have a chance to win a portfolio review!
