Thank you for the amazing lesson, I have learned a lot from your free class. I have always liked photography and now I love it even more. I have set myself a new challenge which is to learn even more about my DSLR and to start taking more photos that involve people or animals. Also, I really liked the photos you showed in the video so I googled your name to see more of your work and I found your website with your portfolio. Among the photos taken in Indonesia, there was one photo in particular that drew me in which was the one with the 5 palm trees, vast water which had a similar colour tone to the sky, and a person on a canoe like boat. Hi Porter! I found your portfolio two hours ago on ontheroad.gr and just finished your free class. I appreciate very much what you have done in this video!  Can you tell me something about your experience with Nikos Economopoulos and if he helped you to see things in a new way? In the last 5 years I learned to see photos in the same way you see them. I have a teacher, here in Romania. Bresson, Gruyaert, Economopoulos, Koudelka (I just saw his Gypsies on your video), Kertesz, Webb (I think there is also one of his books on the last part of your movie) and other Magnum photographers were our great sources of good photos. If you want I will send two address where you can see pictures of my teacher and mine. I am not sure is polite to put them here right now. Hi Bogdan - nice images! I can see the influence of the photographers you mentioned in your work. Yes - please leave a link to see more.

I was with Nikos in the Balkans and Northern Ethiopia. He is great -  I find him to be a strong teacher, sure in his style and clear about what makes a strong photograph and isn't afraid to tell you when your shots are not working. I find that to be rare with many photography teachers. 


Where are you in Romania? I was there last summer - from the border of Serbia to Maramures.

Nikos was here 5 years ago and talks with us some hours, one day before his Balkans tour. We made a selection from these photos and then a book which we gave him as a gift.

I am in Bucharest. So far away the area you visited last summer.
