Thanks buddy. I have some sunset peonies in my garden I am better at cultivating than roses. But I do love a sunset palette. I actually was finishing up and applied a yellow glaze layer over the green to bring it out.

Hi Kris - I really like your choice of colour palette, you've captured the different sunset hues beautifully. I think the slightly more lime-coloured-green for the foliage also works really well for contrast. Your shading on the petals is very convincing too, well-executed tonal values across all the petals. Watercolour + Roses - a winning combination for you. Thank you so much Carrie. I want to be able to some day achieve the freshness of a rose painting like yours. The petals curving and edging and shadows are such a great exercise and I kinda like that it isn't easy. You are such a great teacher Carrie, and I am grateful that you work so hard for us, helping us understand watercolor painting. I always wanted to try it and needed direction and am a person with mixed learning style. I need visual, auditory, and written-something you do!

I decided to paint roses in my favorite color palette. I love those sunset colored roses. I think they call one variety a peace rose. This is such a wonderful class I could paint roses for years and attempt to capture them. A little overworked but I like it.
