Racoon

I have chosen a racoon character. He is of course a thief. I know it is a cliché, but so it is.
1. He is a thief.
2. He is out thieving.
3. He has a sneaking pose or he is discovered and has a scared pose.
4. Perhaps he is carrying a crowbar or and a sack.
5. He is already carrying a mask.
6. Perhaps it is dark night and he is caught in a beam of light.
Here are some racoon studies.
Here are some poses.
I will be back when I have a refined drawing.
Here is my refined drawing with some values. I am not sure if it is the last final drawing, but it will have to do for now. I chose a pose where he is both sneaking and startled because he is discovered.
I have struggled with the head. It should not be too realistic. I had a 3/4 profile in mind, but I could not get it to look right.
Now I am thinking about how to make the fur texture look right in the face, tail, hands and feet.
By the way I think the method with the broad brush to find the poses is very useful. I know some of them are tilting. In general I think the hardest thing is to get the figures to stand on the ground.
I will be back with some color studies. Perhaps there should be some trash cans in the background?
Here are som colour explorations. I think I will proceed with the last one. I wanted to show he is in a city, but the wall and trash cans take too much away from the figure.
Maybe I will try to do a better final drawing before I do the final colour illustration.
