I really enjoyed this lesson. Candice is a lovely teacher. I enjoyed the minimalistic yet captivating simplicity of these paintings and the lovely guidance from Candice.

I used a very budget friendly sketchbook from Søstrene Grene. The paper was buckling like mad, but it did the job. It was actually the first time I noticed my Ultramarine granulating so nicely, which was a pleasant surprise.

The contrast between the loose surroundings and the sharp little boats is very pleasing to the eye. I like the palette choice too, although halfway through I realised that I must have misheard the instructions and used Burnt Sienna instead of Burnt Umber. It worked just as nicely, though - probably just a touch warmer than the Burnt Umber would have been.
