We quickly sketched two scenes, trying to capture the essence of each photo.  This first sketch worked out well (except for the blue road!) 

The landscape sketch did not work out to look like much more than someone's bushes in their back yard...  I don't really know what went wrong except the scale of the houses to the trees was off and my "mountains" looked like a crooked fence... Obviously I need to practice my loose skills more!
