Why Do I Want to Work in Asset Management?

I want to work in Asset Management because I prefer the buy side over the sell side, having tried an investment banking summer analyst role. I aspire to be an investor actively monitoring markets and creating long-term relationships with clients and portfolios. Unlike investment banking, which focuses on multiple short-term deals, asset management offers the chance to engage deeply with investments and clients over a longer horizon.

What Type of Asset Manager Do I Want to Work For?

I want to work for a bulge bracket asset manager. These firms offer a robust network of professionals, high-quality strategies, and methods, and the advantage of being part of an investment bank. This integration allows for better information exchange and access to top-tier research, enhancing investment decision-making and career growth opportunities.

What Position in Asset Management Do I Want?

I aim to be an investment analyst, ideally focusing on alternatives. This role would allow me to leverage my analytical skills and interest in diverse investment strategies. Working in alternatives provides the opportunity to explore unique investment opportunities, contributing to a dynamic and rewarding career in asset management.
