Thank you for this class, Juliet.  It was very informative and enjoyable.  I just recently learned Adobe Illustrator and that gave me the confidence to tackle Photoshop as a total newbie.  I don't think I would have made it otherwise.  I am updating my original post.  My pattern looks ok but I see white lines I am not sure how to get rid off.  Hopefully you can shed some light as to how to fix that.  Thank you so much!
