Painting birds in Monochrome - The magic of single color

The moment I saw this class I knew I have to paint this . Since long I have been wanting to explore the beauty, calmness and softness of single pigment in watercolors but never found the right moment . So here I am with all three projects which were super fun to paint .

For the Kookaburra I used Indigo which I felt was a perfect choice . Being familliar with the value range of this color I was enthusiastic how will it turn out when I'll work with this beautiful color in monochrome . For the Flamingo first I went with my comfort color again Indigo but then I wanted to give a try with neutral tint also (which I haven't used much so far) so I painted it again and I loved how neutral tint enhanced that softness.

For the final one Owl, I used burnt umber instead of vandyk brown ( again which I don't use much). Burnt umber being not that dark in tone I have to use multiple layers in darker portions , but I loved the overall effects. And I decided not to paint the background for this one. Out of these three Owl being my favorite.
