Painted Giant

I had another wonderful class with you, Carrie! I had so much fun painting this gentle giant, which inspired the name. You truly have a gift for teaching; your calm voice guides me through the process in such a pleasant way. I also appreciate the soothing background music.

I initially tried using Bockingford paper but quickly set it aside and redid my painting on Arches paper. At this point, I feel more comfortable working with cotton paper. I can still use the Bockingford for practice and smaller projects.

I've had a sketch of an elephant in my "to-do" pile for a long time, so I finally used it for this piece! I'm trying to branch out and explore new techniques while painting, so I decided to take a different approach with the background. As a result, my entire piece is a bit darker, but I think it still works and gives it a unique feel.

Since I don’t have mental visual cues, stepping away from anything not directly in front of me can be challenging, but I like to push myself. Thank you once again for providing your students with so much information and guidance during class!
