I very much like the idea of taking a few days to explore a subject and techniques in which to portray it. I didn't try them all just yet, but I did several pencil sketches (also some timed ones) and then I wondered how to get the feather texture. I experimentes with neocolors, with or without adding water. and for my final owl (for now) I used green acrylic ink and a nib pen. I used a little water too and some brush markers and pencil.

Owls are wonderful, there are some living nearby and I love listening to their calls (especially on summer nights while drifting away to sleep).

I find drawing complex subjects (like all the feather texture, the face and eyes) very difficult. Maybe i'm too impatient? If anyone has tips on how to approach more complex subjects I'd love to hear. I got so frustrated... only when my husband said: what a cute owl, I could see that it wasn't all bad 🫤🙃😀
