What I love about this is that you have very particular reasons why these books speak to you--and I know that nobody else would've put this exact stack of books together, for these particular reasons. That's what makes them such great influences. Everything you can learn from these books will be combined and brought forth in your own writing in a way that nobody else could've predicted. Well done!</p>

<p>These books inspire me for a variety of reasons. And I know there are more than three, but when I was thinking about what Amy said about finding books that inspire you - I went to the bookstore and my own bookshelf and these are the ones that stood out for me. First, Chanel Miller, the way she tells and writes her story is so powerful. She has such ability to describe, emote, to paint the picture. This is the Story of a Happy Marriage is by Ann Patchett and while I like her fiction, I love this non-fiction book. To me, this is her best work. The Sound of Gravel is another where the narrative is so clear, strong, and well written. And Brene Brown, well, enough said. And then there is the Belonging book, which is a graphic novel, but the art and the words in this narrative about a German woman working through her German heritage in light of some of German history was fantastic - her writing motivates me to write, to describe, to feel. If I had the physical book Becoming - by Michele Obama, I would have added it as well.</p>
