Nike Portugal 2014 Kit

My first idea was to build a unique project to a national team that will be in 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. I selected Portugal by their history they have build mixed with Brazil history, they have discovered the land with Pedro Alvares Cabral back in 1500. I would like to tell this story of success, pride and Brazil's roots with Portugal.

Form

So, with this point of view, I stated the research by looking for historical and successfull images of Portugal in world cups, and I analised them by qualifying by shape, to create a historical and retro mood.

Colors

Portugal have used red  in most of them kits, sometimes with a green application. In one of these researched kits, I found a use of a gold color, and yellow, that was taken by the shield of Portugal's flag. That could be a good way to create a retro mood, perhaps mixing the green, red and the yellow. the red color seems to be historical when the color is not too saturated.

The away kit could be white, used in 2012/2013 version, or black, used in 2002.

History

Why don't use the history between Portugal and Brazil to a kit that will be used on Brazil World Cup in 2014?

"The first European to explore Brazil was Pedro Álvares Cabral on April 22, 1500 under the sponsorship of Portugal. From the 16th to the 19th centuries, Brazil was a colony of Portugal. On September 7, 1822, the country declared its independence from Portugal and became a constitutional monarchy, the Empire of Brazil. A military coup in 1889 established a republican government. The country has seen a dictatorship (1930–1934 and 1937–1945) and a period of military rule (1964–1985)."

Colonial Brazil (Portuguese: Brasil Colonial) comprises the period from 1500, with the arrival of the Portuguese, until 1815, when Brazil was elevated to a kingdom alongside Portugal as the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves.

This history could be a start to this new project.

Portugal became successfull on their sea discoveries, and the cross symbolizes that period.
(The cross was used on 2012-2013 jerseys, but I'll use in a different way an apply it also to the badges)

I realized tht the type would fit more beautifully if they were condensed. I found two different type families to use on this tests. They can changed.Nike Portugal 2014 Kit - image 9 - student project

Color Choices

I think that the firt kit would be better if they were totally red, and the second jerseycould be changed from white to green and yellow: these are the brazilian colors (references to historical link brazil-portugal) and they also have a retro look, taking the mood to the past.

I found a nice image from training jersey with the colors that I would like to apply:

the 2012-2013 jersey is totally red and could have a few changes

Final versions

I've decided to keep first jersey's red color, and use the green and yellow colors to away kits, based on brazil (host from 2014 World Cup) and Portugal flags, and also by the historical references between both countries. The Third Kit is based on Portugal's white kits, but with references from their sea discoveries history.
