Nel Blu.

Couldn't find the ink you recommend, so I just used some Windsor&Newton Indian Ink.
Brushes on hand:
I have a nice expensive watercolour sable brush, but didn't want to ruin it until I get the hang of ink. Normally I just watercolour or gouache things so my inventory was:
• Cheap motel toothbrush
• Cheap and battered synthetic medium brush of no known origin
• Fine Synthetic brush for details
• Brand new crow quill pen. The art shop I went to had about 20 nibs, This seemed like a good one to start with as the guy said this was the 'All-American Comic Artist Nib' (whatever that means).

I liked the idea of drawing art I liked in a completely different medium.
My girlfriend began singing 'Nel Blu dipinto di blu' one morning when I was painting. Although the song was apparently inspired by Chagall paintings, I thought about how one could paint oneself blue.

I found a photograph of someone jumping into a swimming pool and in a sense, painting themselves blue. I liked the angle because the man also appears to be flying 'as in the Chorus. 'Volare...'
There is some absurdity in this as I was painting exclusively in black ink.

I also just pulled out a few other figures that use multiple techniques. I quite like the combination of very messy and very tight.
