I think my first version .. the pink one ... was probably the best effort. I had a tough time with this. 

Then I tried a blue-green version and it was over-plain. 

This looks over-ambitious but it's just my practicing several smooshy paintings around a central square painting. 

I totally lost the plot, didn't I?  To rescue the practice sheet I added gelly ink and india ink. Not too bad.
