Hey. A huge thank you for submitting this class project! And a massive well done for doing something like this for the first time. I firmly believe everyone has a unique creative voice and it’s amazing to see that you are discovering yours. Having a creative outlet can be such a rewarding thing! So I hope you have enjoyed the process. You’ve done really well to choose a range of chords and move around the scale/lead notes. It shows great confidence in your approach and you will learn a lot by pushing yourself in this way. I like the strumming pattern you have chosen. And I love the quick change on the last chord. Really cool! Now that you have the strumming pattern in place, I would suggest a little more practice on the timing and transitions between the chords. Maybe start by setting a metronome very low. Around 60bpm. And single strum each chord, leaving 4 beats in between each chord. And try to land on the next chord, at the start of beat 1. As you get comfortable with this, gradually increase the tempo. Then, start to add the strumming pattern. Again, with a low tempo to begin with. And gradually boost it each time you practice. You don’t ned to have a metronome running every time you practice or play the guitar! But by adding it occasionally, you become very aware of your timing and it can greatly improve your strumming ability and chord transitions. The lead notes work well. You caught me by surprise with the note you finished on! Nice bit of tension! I assumed you were going to play the open G string afterwards, as that’s where my ear went. But it sounds like you’re maybe playing the ‘e’ note (2nd fret of the D string?). And Garageband is a great choice. Very accessible and user friendly. Could you elaborate on how can I practice strumming pattern with a metronome? I understand how to do that with just one strum per chord and am currently practicing that but how could I apply metronome practice to the strumming pattern for example the one from here (down-up-down)? I understand I should do it in a way where I would switch chords every 4 beats?

Hey. Certainly! Very happy to try and help. Starting in the way you are, with one strum on the first beat, is a good way to begin. In regards to developing that (with the down - up - down) - you are going to be looking at applying the ‘up’ strum, on the smaller beats, that exist in-between the main 1,2,3,4. For example. We begin with beats:

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 (known as quarter notes)

You then add:

1 &amp; 2 &amp; 3 &amp; 4 &amp; (known as 8th notes)

(Strums can be applied to the ‘&amp;’ beats, as well the 1,2,3,4)

You can then break it down even further with additional beats, that exist in-between. These are labelled as ‘e’ and ‘a’:

1 e &amp; a 2 e &amp; a 3 e &amp; a 4 e &amp; a (known as 16th notes)

In this last example, your strumming pattern could land on:

1 - Down
a - Up
2 - Down

Lesson 16 from my latest class (an expanded version of the beginner class you have been working through), has a lesson that starts to expand on strumming &amp; timing. It begins by playing each ‘down -up’ strum, on beats 1,2,3,4. You can check it here:

I used a classical guitar that I also used for practicing the lessons from the course. Put it together using GarageBand. First time doing something like this but was definitely fun.
