My dream of becoming a digital nomad

My dream of becoming a digital nomad - student project

Current Opportunities
I'm from Slovenia. As I finished college, I wanted to start my own business, but taxes in my country are insanely high. Plus, companies here are not so familiar with "UGC" (user-generated content) yet, or are willing to pay very little for it. And this is something I would like to do as a creator. I feel like I'm called to go out in the world to look for better opportunities. I'm in a relationship with someone who like me wants to go abroad and build a better life. I'm healthy, full of energy and ready to take some risks and uncomfortable steps.

Current Skills and Experience
I studied media communications, specializing in visual communications. I feel like I always sucked with numbers and more analytical skills, but I nailed the creative part. That's how I got myself into social media and content creation space. I worked in a software company as a marketing manager and in a marketing agency as a social media manager for brands. That way I gathered some experience in this field and expanded my skills. Now I started building my own personal brand online by documenting my life on Instagram and YouTube. Besides that, I started a business page where I share content examples targeting brands, I would love to work with. In this process, I'm learning a lot every single day and falling in love with my work andthe idea of working online while traveling.

Lifestyle and Career Goals
I really hate the country I'm currently living in. Balkan people are very close-minded and traditional. And I hate high taxes (which are increasing more and more). I don't feel like this environment I'm currently living in is giving me enough opportunities to grow. The best companies I worked with were from other countries and I'm connecting daily with creators all around the world. This just makes me want to move abroad even more. I would like to move to Asia and visit countries like Indonesia or Thailand, as those are very cheap and also very warm and beautiful (I also hate cold European winters). My plan is to save some emergency money and then move for 1-3 months to first gain experience and see how it feels living somewhere new.

Your Current Career and Whether It Can Be Pivoted
I'm a UGC creator and within that, I offer multiple services. Some of them are not 100% virtual. For example, for a product UGC I need a physical package to be shipped to my address, so I can film it. But I think moving abroad could give me more freedom to find better spots and aesthetic places to shoot. Besides that, I also plan to offer other services and add-ons like social media strategy, which can be 100% virtual. I think my career choice could be a perfect fit for me to become a digital nomad.

Entreprenuer, Freelancer or Employee
Right now, I want to make a lot of money fast, so I can save it and move as fast as possible. I'm done with waiting and postponing those dreams. I know when I will change my environment, I will be forced to grow even more and achieve further success. I also plan to save enough, to have emergency money ready and be prepared for an unstable income at the beginning stages.

Digital Nomad Career That Resonates With You Most
I think being a digital nomad would definitely suit me. I'm in love with working digitally and I'm already doing that. All I need is my phone, tripod and a computer. I also tested living this kind of lifestyle by going to different coffee shops and working from there and I really liked it. I'm also a person who loves novelty and exploring new places. So moving places would be a dream for me. I don't have kids or too many friends and I have a partner who wants to try living the same lifestyle as me, so I'm not bound to stay in only one place. I'm also building my personal brand by documenting my life as a digital nomad would definitely influence the content I post and help me make it more interesting. I would have more stories to share and tell and I could inspire other people to change their lives too.
