My drawings and sketches vol. 4

My project about Drawing and Sketching Vol 4.
Ive been longing to do this course after the previous Vol. 1-3 that have been thoroughly enjoyable and I am looking forward to the boats.
Here is the first exercise of the paper boat on dark paper. I used a piece of light blue (?) pastelmat and colored pencils.
Second paper boat sketch on white paper with graphite.
I got in a bit of a mess with this and smudged graphite everywhere so I had to carve out the highlights with an eraser. Hopefully boat lines in the right place this time.

Session 6: I did this exploratory drawing in my A3 sketchbook to practice the subject. I think I have proved that I have problems with drawing straight lines! :-) and spent as much time erasing as drawing :-). However in spite of it taking much longer than I though to get this far as an initial attempt, I am quite pleased with the result. I think I used angles to place everything too.
I did get quite confused which rope line I was drawing at one point and erased the wrong one :-). I shall do the drawing again more slowly (even more slowly) on some toned paper. How many ropes I manage to draw, I will wait to see. If there are any tips on drawing straight lines (apart from using a straight edge) I'm listening :-).
mmmh - looking at this with fresh eyes this morning, something doesn't quite look right with the perspective of the quay side?
Sailboat from the Bow - final version.
I so pleased with how this came out. I found that doing a preliminary drawing really helped and I could just relax with this version in grey colored pencils without watching the video this time. This was the first time I had tried the 'cool' greys in the background and the 'warm' greys in the foreground. The cool ones do actually look slightly blue when seen next to the other ones. I thought I had better stop at this point before another line went mysteriously off course to places it was not supposed to :-).
I enjoyed this drawing - thanks.
I think I might try a darker paper for the stern to see if that brings a bit more drama.
Sailboat from the Stern:
Practice Drawings
This is the drawing I made in my A3 sketchbook.
I intend to do a final version in the next few days after re-watching the lessons.
I found a closeup study of the the views of the bow and stern helpful.
I also cropped the picture for A3. Love the patterns in the water with this view.

Sailboat from the stern on A3 colored paper. It was time to stop for today so this is progress so far. (below)
I expect when I see it tomorrow there will be a few updates to make. I would like to do a bit more on the quayside and some of the ropes need re-enforcing I think.
I had the pleasure of visiting some galleries in London yesterday (April 19) and was able to study original paintings by Constable, Turner, Monet and Pissaro.
Enthused by the experience, I finished my drawing of the boat on colored paper adding some personal touches.
Great course. Thank you.
