My dog JayCee 2010-2022

My dog JayCee 2010-2022 - student project

This is my dog JayCee who passed away last year.  She was a border collie filled with such spirit and love. I actually painted her yesterday, but tonight after I took your class I felt it was perfect to post it here. I used watercolor & a some white gouache, but after watching the class, I think I will try painting her in gouache next to see the difference.

I like your idea of mapping out the drawing using a grid and also the negative space like you spoke of when drawing the cat.  That makes good sense and I can use that knowledge in my future paintings.  I also uploaded the original photo that I used to paint her.  It was taken at Rock Creek Reservoir in Oregon.

This was a gift for my husband as he was out of town and I wanted to surprise him when he came home.  (He loved it). I wish I had watched your class before I had painted her, but I am still pleased at the outcome of my final work.  Thank you for some great guidance and as I said I will either watch this video again, or maybe try another of your animal painting classes.  :)
