My Worst and Amy Best
I share these projects to show the contrast between the beginning of my practice with vector illustrations and digital art apps on the iPad and my current practice. My “worst” pieces were created in Adobe Draw (the precursor to Adobe Fresco) and they are clumsy and didn’t turn out at all how I intended. Sharing them feels awkward but I also see them as a necessary step in getting to where I am now. We have to experiment and fail to learn something new and to become more proficient in that skill. Instead of hating the ugly art I make I’m learning to be comfortable with it because it is a necessary step to making “beautiful” art. My “best” piece was made in Adobe Fresco and while I’m much more comfortable sharing it with the world, I also see endless ways I can improve. I don’t think as artist there will ever be a perfect “best” piece because art is a journey.
