My Creative Process

Hi! Today I want to share my creative process for this class with you. For the sake of the class contents I'll go along with the steps of the class.

#0 I did first take a look, which materials were next to me and I tested them out. There were my microns, some brushes (decided to use three different), one fudenosuke pen and my belooooved mechanical pencil. I also did use my watercolors, but colors I did not or barely use until now. I tested them on a separate page on some different stuff. I loved the rough lines of the fudenosuke and I realized I never used the 08 micron before!

#1 Your Tools, Your Curiosity, an Abstract Drawing
For this one I first played with the watercolor, wet on wet, wet on dry and so on. Then I tested the different tools on wet and dry surfaces with each other. Biggest surprise here was the fudenosuke on the wet circle, which created an awesome effect.

#2 Having Fun With Hand-Lettering

I loved this. I always wanted to test block lettering with a flat brush. I usually stay away from handlettering because I always think "Okay, I am able to do a little bit of calligraphy, but I'm not able to draw actual letters."

#3A Creative Self-Portraits
I recently did read Peggy Deans Guide to Nature Drawing & Watercolor and there was a similar task to draw with your eyes closed. So this was fun to do! It's really off but I surprisingly like them. Maybe just because they make me laugh.Even the one with the left hand; and it was exactly like Marie said: The longer I played with it, the more I liked it.

#3B Drawing to Music
I did not choose a specific song. I just shuffeled amixtape Spotify created for me. It's simplified an indie song about the ups and downs of a life with drugs. The melody is happy and wavy, so are the colors and lines here. It's kinda how I imagine a drug trip: bursting my mind in thousands of pieces in a good way (happy dots and waves) and well, the downside or impact as muddy centerpiece?

Disclaimer: Don't do drugs.

#4 Create a Chaotic Sketchbook Page
As Marie said "jellyfish" I immediately thought of "octopus". They're so cool. And scary. And cool. So I drew one from a pic on pinterest (alternated it ofc) and what could I say? It was so nice, I never drew an octopus before. And then I created different ones until the page was more or less full of them. :)

#5 Make a Mistake on Purpose & Have Fun With It
This is literally something that happens me all the time and I get really MAD.Not this time. I drew a cute flower, my favourite thing to do so atm… I took my favourite brush, got him all nice wet and full of beautiful red color… I closed my eyes, calmed myself down… "It's okay, just do it. Let it go." … And I dropped my brush. Once, twice, ... Of course I had to pick up more color and water and for this open my eyes (I mean, imagine the mess, right??), but for the drops I closed my eyes. It was uncormfortable at first, but I mean, look at it. I think it's precious.

I hope you enjoyed my little journey and had fun with it like I did!
