Animal Eye Sketches: Dog, Lemur, Cheetah, Giraffe, Owl, and Horse

For my first painting, I chose to do a cat with a blue iris. This was probably my favorite of the bunch, but I'm sure that it's familiarity contributes to that. 

Next was the peacock, and it was really fun to work on this really darkly valued iris with a uniquely rounded eye shape with that high upper eyelid.

Oh boy, this one was an adventure! I wasn't sure if I should repaint it due to my perspective errors, but I thought I should share it anyway as an example of what happens if you draw too far away from your eyes. While the sclera is much too wide and the iris is a bit slanted, this baby basilisk was still fun to paint, and I hope that his unique look is fun to watch come to life!  

This toad piece was entirely too big, took too long, and came out a little wonky on the perspective side as well, but ultimately it taught me a lot! I wish I had pushed the green hue a bit further in the eye, so I may try this one again in the future!
