Mixing Greens in Watercolour
Greens are my favourite colour when it comes to watercolour - the range of greens you can make is infinite! So as I start my series on watercolour greenery, I thought what better way to lay a foundation for botanical painting that looking at how to mix a variety of greens, including those neutral realistic greens that we see in nature.
I do love a good colour chart and find them so useful for when it comes to choosing my colours for my work, and have experimented in making quite a few for my greens focusing on different properties such as hue, chroma and value. I find that these charts (in the photo) that show the spectrum of greens you can make between your blue and yellow mixes are the most useful, with those warmer yellowy greens on one side and those cooler bluey greens on the other. And I show you how I made this chart in the video.
So if you'd like to know more about mixing your greens as we start this series, check out my class! I'd love to know what you think :)
