Faerber Family Crest Logo

I wanted to create a family crest that tells a little story about where we come from. Faerber is German for “dyer,” someone who dyes fabrics. According to our family history, the first man with the surname Faerber in Suriname dates back to 1838, during the era of slavery.

I included a few elements that have a personal meaning to me. The paintbrush represents both the meaning of our surname and our family's love for creativity, while the Madame Jeanette pepper is a nod to my grandmother, who shares her name with this famous Surinamese pepper. The scarlet ibis represents Suriname, connecting the crest to our roots.

I wanted to bring these little pieces of our family history together in one design. Something personal that connects our name, our heritage, and the people who came before us.
