Melting tomato

Melting tomato - image 1 - student projectHello!

Thank you for your class, I have a better understanding of shadows. Here are my exercises. I think I have trouble to place the shadow and lights properly. My tomato and balls seems like are melting. I use red crayon in the tomato to emphasize the contour, because it was very undefined. Theres a question I have, the shadows must be according with the palette I am using? In the tomato my shadow was grey, and a little orange, but in the balls the shadow it is grey and magenta, or grey and blue, to be cohesive with the color. Is that okay? What about painting elements that are not round? I am not sure how to put the shadow, I think its more elongated, like in my jar.
