Lori's explorations in gesture drawing (heaven help us ;-)
Hi Brent! Congratulations on the new course! I was really happy to see the notification pop up this morning.
At the moment I'm in the middle of re-doing sections of your original gesture course. Heads and necks are what I'm most unhappy about right now...I just can't seem to get the angles and proportions right, and often the head/neck ruins my whole drawing. (I know...more practice should fix it eventually, but still...arrrrgh!)
After watching this new lesson about straight lines, I think spending some time practicing this is going to be a big help for learning to see tricky angles better!
I just finished the first two practice reels and wanted to post these first efforts ...it will be fun to compare later after a few weeks of practice :-) I used chunky willow charcoal and big paper because it helps me to not get bogged down in details.
After a few weeks of trying to make nice curvy shapes, I was surprised at how hard it was to stick to straight lines! Some curves snuck in this first time through...I'll watch out for that in future efforts.
Thanks again for your wonderful courses!
Cheers,
Lori
P.S: Congrats on the book! I was checking something on your materials FAQ the other day and saw the announcement. Of course I'll be pre-ordering as soon as it's available :-)
