In this watercolor painting of a bouquet of flowers I focused on achieving a loose and impressionist style. I painted directly from life -- using a still life arrangement in my studio. 

 

 

I use bold brush strokes and a combination of soft and hard edges to express the liveliness of these beautiful flowers.

 

 

The purple of the Phlox flowers in the upper right corner creates a strong contrast in color, shape and composition to the yellow sunflowers.
