Hi Ana your leaves are lovely, you have lots of colour variation and I like the way the background has turned out. I also find it very difficult to get a smooth wash. you have spurred me on - I have watched the first part of this course and I now now must put paint tp paper. see you further down the line.

You've created a lovely collection of leaves, Ana and I think you've done a great job on the background. I like a bit of texture and and irregularity - that's what makes watercolour special. And I think your tomato is fabulous.

Hi Ana, Lovely work and thanks for sharing the first project for this new course. I think the background is nice and washy and shows the features of watercolour even if its not what you wanted!The marks that are in the background are created when wet paint meets paint that is already starting to dry - thats when you get that bleed effect. If you dont like this effect then it is a matter of wetting all the background evenly so it has a light sheen and then adding paint with not too much on the brush. In hotter weather you may need to rewet some areas so the paper stays damp as it will dry quickly in patches. With practice you'll be able to predict how much water is needed to get the effects you want :)You've got some really nice soft blends happening in the leaves.If you want to practice more before moving to the next project you could try this same project but with other simple motifs like fruit or shapes and patterns. Thanks Emily that was a great advice. I first practice just background with random shapes and than I did the fruit one. I'm happy now and ready to move to next one :))
