Landscape practice

Landscape practice - image 1 - student project

Happy to learn so much more, still very scared of the paint and seeing it dry so fast, not enough time to even focus on the composition.

Lots of rough edges/layers everywhere. Still trying to understand how to blend colors. I keep thinking I can blend two colors that are next to each other by loading my brush with water (and no additional pigment), and kind of rubbing them together, which doesn't blend, just making a new, more dilute color of the two existing colors, with an edge of bloom around it.

I forgot to layer and blend the trees together to make forest look more dense. I appreciate you verbalizing the technique of using a clean damp brush at the bottom edge of the trees to blend.

My layers in the pasture seemed to dry so quickly, and attempting to blend them created blooms and sharp edges without good color mixing. In the sky as well, the purple pigments laid down seem to be sitting on top of the other colors and "pushing" them away while everything was wet, not blending.
