Intuitive Line Drawing, velocity and mindfulness

Intuitive Line Drawing, velocity and mindfulness - student project

I am an infant exploring art and have always been ppppetrified of drawing… which is why I never draw. I have always said that my quickie art creations tended to be the best surprises … ie when my hand flew before my brain could even think. That is why I gravitated towards more abstract loose art. The only problem was I could never replicate anything. Recently, I have been training myself to slowdown … to learn fundamentals, etc. But it’s stressful. This class was interesting for me as it brought to awareness what was happening subconsciously. This tells me that I can explore different ends of the spectrum for very different results. Thank you, Joe. I’m learning!

(I very shyly post my ugly squiggle with great embarrassment but I will support the class! Been doing immersion in TC’s Affinity classes these few days, my brain’s smoked up… This was a good breather before I head back in to those very deliberate creation (Vs spontaneous) sessions, hehe. Cheers to you both.)

I could see that my rapid squiggles were excited and sharp… when I slowed down some, I was able to give my strokes more variety and rounded form.
