Instructor Premise Examples

Hi guys! I wanted to give you an example of what your project should look like, if you're still having questions after watching the videos.

Remember that your premise can be ANYthing that gives you the start of a story idea--a character, a plot point, an idea, something cool you read in National Geographic. I tend to be an "idea" premise person myself, but sometimes I am a plot premise person. I also tend to write speculative fiction--science fiction, fantasy, and horror--so my premises generally fall into that sphere.

Here are 5 of mine:

1. Explorers moving into the Earth’s crust encounter sentient lifeforms living down there that have evolved completely differently from surface life.

2. Interstellar travel through magical portals

3. Two people - a boy and a girl - parents have joked about them being meant for each other, but it turns out that they are the last in a long line of protectors, and must work together to save the world.

4. The idea that some sort of evil energy – or entity – could latch onto a car and hitchhike to a person’s home.

5. Life on Titan or Europa (like, a manned expedition, and what they would find)

Remember, if you have any questions, just ask!
