Hi again! Great improvements. I will trust that you will find a way to make it less industrial-looking :) although it's too bad I can't see your old version anymore; other students would benefit from it as well.2 main pointers for your second iteration:1. Consider changing the dark gray area. Assume people may be printing out your resume. Tiny white text printed out on a very dark background will create lower visibility (plus wastes a lot of ink). Also, older individuals are not able to read white text on dark backgrounds as easily as black text on light backgrounds. Obviously, not a problem if your clients are young, but something to consider.2. 1 page. You have some repetitive info and there's a lot of excess spacing. To make it one page, I would: - replace Education with References - delete personal projects (keep personal website if you must) - shorten the reference section to only include names, position and company. they probably wouldn't want all their information put online; it's up to a client or company to figure out how to reach your references even if it's asking you for their contact (or more commonly reaching out online or otherwise) - change the "Profile" title to "Illustrator" and move it closer to your name - move "Social" and "Languages" to the left column on the first page - reduce "Social" area...consider lining the icons up on one line and making them clickable on a computer - reduce the spacing between specific content lines that have more than 1 line of text per bullet point (eg reduce spacing between "fundraiser" and the line above it; Graphic Design calls this "leading"). In Adobe Ai or Indd this is you can control the “lead” of your text within the Character window. Look up “leading graphic design” for more info. - delete the extra lines under the titles in the left column (if needed)See where that leaves you in terms of spacing! If you upload again or you end up with a final design, I would love it if you could show the iterations you went through as it's such an important part of the process!

Hi Joash! Thanks for uploading your resume! I'm really glad to see that you're able to learn from the class even though it's advertised as a UX Resume course. I'm not as familiar with what is trending in the Illustration world, so take my critique with a grain of salt! Most of what you have is already pretty solid, but I see a few areas of improvement and reminders for you as you turn this word doc into a proper resume!.SUMMARY STATEMENT: There's some small things you may consider changing (eg "disciplined" to another word--at least in the USA that word has more of a negative connotation closer to punishment, not positive-educational)... The second sentence is too general. I think I understand as a fellow artist what you're trying to say "telling stories through the characters, elements, and details in his art" but I have doubts on whether that would actually resonate with who the resume is intended for. If you find that your clients are looking for that specific thing, then that's fine. But if it's too conceptual for your clients to understand, then that might not be as helpful to them. Your summary makes you sound a bit general. Based on the types of roles you're looking for, wouldn't most illustrators aspire to make work that tells stories? Could there be another, more exciting way to say the same thing--something that makes you stand out from another illustrator's resume? Or you could include a brief overview of the RANGE of projects you've done––card designs, websites, character design. Or talk about the RANGE or topics, subject matter, or kinds of clientele you've worked for. That way someone looking at your resume can get a good feel of what you're capable of without having to read every single word of your resume. You could also consider adding a "Seeking [freelance concept art opportunities...]" or the like (sorry for my lack of Illustration-specific knoweldge!) From your experiences it appears that you're a freelance illustrator, so I'm not sure the high school or non-illustration experiences are relevant (ie if I was looking for illustration work to be done, I wouldn't care as much about those things. If it's important to keep the church element in case your clients are Christian, maybe you could put that word in your Mumbai Campus Ministry section (which already sounds like a Christian org. As a Christian msyelf, I can understand wanting to keep specific elements in my resume :)

ILLUSTRATION vs DESIGN RESUME?
When I look at your resume, it looks like a designer's resume. Is that really okay for an illustrator such as yourself? I've seen my illustration peers get a little more creative with their resumes to make their artistic style come through whether by color or font or even incorporating a drawing sample into the paper. The typography that you chose here is very "industrial", "heavy" or "cold"-feeling. I searched online and found your Facebook page, and I was very surprised to find that your art gives a very "light" or "warm"-feeling––the opposite of what I thought when I saw your resume. See if you can't find a font that fits your illustration style a little more. Obviously, not telling you to use Comic Sans, or some other obscure font that isn't good for Resumes, haha! But play around with your Titles since those are usually only a few words it's ok if the font is not as precisely legible as the body font. But maybe the resume is not as important for illustrators as their website or social media pages to get work? I'm not entirely sure. I'd be glad if you could share with me what you've seen working or not working within the Illustration world!<div>.</div><div>REMINDERS:
- eventually delete "V3"
- add your portfolio link (I realize it's WIP)
- remember to have consistent spacing between text whether bullet points or titles to keep good hierarchy (ex: Nation Institute of Open Schooling in Word has a much larger "leading"--or vertical space between the lines of text)</div>

Thank you so much Melissa! These are points I would never have spotted myself, but definitely agree with.
Will changing the word 'disciplined' to something softer like 'trained' be more appropriate?
For the 2nd sentence, I'll try writing a few drafts and picking out what works, as I see what you mean by it potentially sounding generic.
I actually had to get rid of the non-illustration experiences in Illustrator, since it wouldn't fit, and didn't seem that important as you said. I hadn't thought of the 'Church' element in that way, but it makes a lot more sense when you frame it like that, so I'll probably try to push it into the 'Mumbai Campus Ministry' section. Also, would removing the educational background be permitted? I intended to do so, but assumed it was compulsory to include it in the resume; but I don't mind removing it if I can.

I completely agree on this section, as I've been so focused on getting a resume out, I missed out actually representing myself on the page. I haven't personally seen any Illustrator resumes, and since there weren't any classes for such resumes, I had resorted to looking to Designer resumes for direction. 
I have created a final version of the resume (which I made before reading your notes, so the changes mentioned above aren't made yet) which I will post in the homework section now, but I think the design, although cleaner, is still pretty 'industrial' as you put it. I shall look for ways to add my illustration skills into the resume in a way that doesn't take away too much from the 'cleanliness'.

Hi Melissa, this is the copy for a resume I'm in the process of creating, for an illustration job.
The document (created in Word) is currently 1½ pages long, but I believe I should be able to shorten the length to a single page, once I format it in Illustrator.
