For this class, I studied the current market and discovered many artists that were earning a good living. Based on that, I realized that the starving artist adage is a thing of the past, and that I also don't have to be a great art master or have gallery representation to call myself an artist.

After consulting the dictionary to see what an artist really was, I also learned that anyone can call themselves an artist, once we shift our thinking. Plus, science has proven that all humans are inherently creative. The world is opening up, and I'm so excited that this option is available to me and anyone else who dreams of being an artist. 

I painted this simple lettering project and hung it in my studio so I would see it every day. This reminder is perfect to help me build my confidence, shift to a more modern way of thinking, and remember that I am indeed an artist!
